It’s no secret that the natural world changes over time, and so do points of interest on our trails. In partnership with the Weare Conservation Commission, PLC has published an update to the Ferrin Pond Conservation Area Trail Guide.

The guide walks you through seventeen numbered points on the 2.5-mile trail. Number by number, you’ll learn about the history, landscape, and ecological diversity of the 480-acre Ferrin Pond property. Updates include a beech tree with an interesting story, information about recent timber harvests, transitional upland forest sites, examples of boundary blazes (and how to read them), and an explanation of the depth and elevation of the pond. The new points of interest are in addition to information about the stonewalls that thread the property, glacial erratics, and wildlife.

We encourage explorers to download or print the guide before you hit the trail, as cellular service is poor or non-existent in most locations surrounding Ferrin Pond.
