September 2024 – PLC is collaborating with private landowners and the Town of Temple to purchase a conservation easement on a 200-acre parcel that encompasses most of Fiske Hill on the town’s border with Wilton. The property is adjacent to over 1,800 acres of existing conservation land, contains prime wildlife habitat, and has frontage on Temple Brook, a cold-water stream that supports wild brook trout. The property ranks as a high priority in both PLC’s new land conservation plan and the NH Wildlife Action Plan. Its conservation is also a high priority for the Temple Conservation Commission, which is funding the easement purchase. PLC is working to raise grants and local private donations to cover transaction costs on the project. The landowners say they hope “preserving this land will ensure a sanctuary for wildlife and a trail for hikers, maintaining a delicate balance between nature’s needs and human exploration.”
