Workday at Rose Mountain

Please join PLC at our beautiful Rose Mountain Preserve in Lyndeborough on Saturday, October 22nd for a day of habitat management work! We will be felling and cutting up trees at the summit in order to maintain the ecologically rare open-top mountain habitat, encourage the growth of wild low-bush blueberries, and maintain the spectacular views!  We will meet at the intersection of Pinnacle Rd and Summit Drive in Lyndeborough at 9am. You may also choose to meet at the PLC office (5A Mill St., New Boston) at 8:30am and carpool to Lyndeborough.  

Please note that the workday will consist of a 1.25 mile, moderately strenuous hike to the summit (approximately 45 minutes), 3-4 hours of relatively heavy work, and a 1.25 mile hike down from the summit. 

What to wear: long-sleeved shirt, long pants, jacket and/or sweatshirt, close-toed shoes (preferably hiking boots or work boots). Remember, your clothes will get dirty! 

What to bring: water bottle(s), snack(s), work gloves, extra layer, loppers, hand pruners, hand saw, ear and eye protection.
