Exploring Frog Rock Road

November 19, 2022 @ 1:00 pm 3:30 pm

Join Dave Butler for an exploration of Frog Rock Road, an abandoned town road in New Boston.  In addition to Frog Rock (a tourist attraction during the grand hotel era), this walk includes a large barn cellar hole plus an esker and kettle pond left behind by the glacier. This is a moderately difficult hike. We will make a stop near the brook to have a snack, so please bring one if you would like.

Distance = 3 miles

Elevation gain = 130 ft.

Meeting Place:  Frog Rock Road (unmarked) leaves Francestown Turnpike in New Boston, .2 miles north of the Mt. Vernon town line and 1.1 miles south of Lyndeborough Road in New Boston.  Look for PLC sign and park along the side of Francestown Turnpike.

Be Aware: The Piscataquog Land Conservancy (PLC) offers events to allow people to connect with our environment. Individuals participating are responsible for their own safety, and for knowing and respecting their own physical capabilities and limitations. Your event registration indicates that: you assume responsibility for yourself and any guests accompanying you, you agree to follow the instructions of the Trip Leader in order to minimize risk, you understand that the Trip Leader and/or any PLC staff present are not necessarily trained in wilderness rescue, first aid, or emergency medicine, and are present only to provide cohesion to the group.

Dog Policy: Except for service dogs, dogs are not allowed at PLC sponsored events. Some of our outings include environments or activities not suitable for dogs. We also strive to make our outings inclusive to all people. Many people – landowners, trip leaders, and participants – might be uncomfortable with dogs. There is also a concern for a dog-on-dog conflict. Thank you for understanding

COVID-19: Please monitor yourself for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to the event. If you or someone in your household becomes ill or have had a known exposure to COVID-19, please stay home and notify us that you will not be in attendance.

Before you register: We ask that you please notify us immediately if your plans to attend a PLC event change by emailing plc@plcnh.org or calling 603-487-3331. Our outings are planned and managed by dedicated volunteers and agency professionals, and our attendance caps are often low to ensure a great experience for attendees. If you’re not able to make it, we’d appreciate the opportunity to open a space for someone else.
