The wildlife sanctuary was created in 1993 by lifelong Bedford resident Florence Tarr through her estate and was managed by a trust established by Ms. Tarr until 2017 when PLC took ownership of this 332-acre property.

Description:
This 332.3 acre property is located on Joppa Hill Rd. along the boundary of Bedford and Goffstown, NH.

Key Features:
Trails, beaver ponds, mature forest, Mountain Laurel.

Directions:
From Back Mountain Rd. in Goffstown, turn south onto Joppa Hill Rd. The main entrance is 0.4 mi. on the right.

From New Boston Road in Bedford, turn north onto Joppa Hill Rd. The main entrance is 1 mile on the left. 

Parking:
Along Joppa Hill Road at two pull off spots.

 

TRAILS

 

Lo Flo Trail (1.8 miles)

The Lo Flo Trail begins at the main entrance off Joppa Hill Road. This 1.8-mile trail, marked with blue diamonds, meanders through the eastern portion of the property, passing through several different forest habitats. The trail is mostly rolling hills scattered with mountain laurel.

Holbrook Hill Trail (2.1 miles)

The Holbrook Hill Trail can be accessed from the Lo Flo Trail or off Back Mountain Road in Goffstown. The 2.1-mile trail, marked with orange diamonds, is comprised of numerous switchbacks that summit Holbrook Hill at 840ft, which is the highest point in Bedford.

Help us preserve the land.

  • Passive recreation allowed (hiking, mt. biking, xc skiing, horseback riding)
  • Dogs must be kept on leash
  • Stay on designated trails
  • No motorized boats or vehicles
  • No camping or fires
  • No hunting, fishing, or trapping wildlife
