The Tuthill Preserve is a 193-acre parcel owned and managed by the Piscataquog Land Conservancy. PLC acquired the property in 2003 from John and Nora Tuthill, who had carefully managed the land for many years as a woodlot. PLC completed its own timber harvest on the property in the winters of 2017 and 2018, continuing their tradition of good forestry. The property was farmed in the 18th and 19th century by several generations of the Gregg family. Today the only trace of those early Greggs is some magnificent stonework outlining where buildings, lanes, and pastures lay. The trail runs past the cellar holes of the Gregg farmstead.
