PLC to Develop New Land Conservation Plan

As 2023 gets under way PLC is gearing up to create a new state-of-the-art land conservation plan for our 26-town service area.  PLC’s current conservation plan was completed in 2014 and covers only the twelve towns served by PLC at that time.  In the intervening nine years, natural resource data has advanced rapidly, especially in the areas of climate change resiliency and wildlife habitat. PLC’s new plan will gather the best-available natural resource and climate related data, and map it using Geographic Information System (GIS) software.

We are working with Peter Steckler of Northeast Conservation Services as the GIS consultant on the project.  The completed plan should be complete by the end of 2023 and will be used by PLC to guide every land conservation project we do over the next decade.

The project is made possible by generous grants from RiverStone Resources and the Open Space Institute.
